Grazie Italia is an Artist Book reflecting on the experience of living and studying abroad in Florence in the summer of 2023. I spent four weeks in Florence attending classes at the Santa Reparata International School of Art and exploring the city. In this project I wanted to capture the feelings of isolation, voyeurism and personal enrichment of long-term travel. Spending time in a foreign city one can catch a glimpse of what it might be like to be from there or to live there, similar to the quick peek you can get peering through an open window as you walk by. There is always a lot you’re missing even when you get to see more than you usually do.
